Tattoo Aftercare
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS:
If Saniderm/Second Skin/DermShield is used:
Keep Saniderm dressing on for 4 days
Saniderm is a self-adhesive, breathable, waterproof clear dressing and is the leading form of aftercare when it comes to tattoo healing. It is quickly becoming the industry standard and has been known to help speed up healing by up to 60%.
You can shower with Saniderm, just be cautious and don’t soak it, definitely don’t completely submerge it in water.
On the 4th day with the dressing on, peel an edge, let Warm water and Antibacterial non scented soap run down behind the dressing as you slowly peel it off.
Once the dressing is off, using the Antibacterial soap and just your fingers (no scrubbing), gently wash the tattooed area.
Rinse off the soap.
Dry the tattoo by dabbing the area dry, do not rub dry. We suggest using a paper towel as they are usually a cleaner approach.
Once the tattoo is dry, get some ointment and apply a small amount to the area.
Ensure that you wash the tattoo 2 times a day for the first week once the dressing has been removed repeating the above process each time.
Ensure to properly cleanse the tattooed area
Apply antibiotic ointment or cream
Use sterile bandage(s) or other sterile dressing(s) when necessary;
Avoid excessive sweating, no saunas, be careful when working out and try to avoid direct sunlight during the healing process
For at least two weeks, minimize exposure to the sun, and discourage swimming in fresh, salt, or chlorinated water
The client shall consult a health care practitioner at the first sign of infection or an allergic reaction, and report any diagnosed infection, allergic reaction, or adverse reaction resulting from the tattoo to the artist and to the Texas Department of State Health Services, Drugs and Medical Devices Group, at 1-888-839-6676.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS YOU MAY HAVE PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH YOUR ARTIST WHO WILL BE BEST SUITED TO ADVISE YOU.
Tattoo Aftercare FAQs
-
Don’t panic, just treat the process as if it is day 4 and follow the instructions above.
-
This can happen and is nothing to worry about, it is the body healing itself and the dressing doing what it’s designed to do, as long as it’s not sleeping out of the dressing excessively or is a dark reddish color.
-
This can happen and once the dressing is taken off and washed everything will be fine.
-
As long as it’s not overly sensitive and causing you an issue then there is nothing to be worried about, some of the red markings can. Last for a while after the dressing has been taken off, but please do keep an eye out for signs of an allergic reaction.
